How to Use this Book

This book is organized into three parts, plus the appendixes.

Part I covers the practice of Circling. There are two variations here,  one of which is to practice in formal groups (which I call “Authentic Relating with shared context”), and the other is to practice with strangers, friends, colleagues or family members. I call this practice “Authentic Relating in the wild”. The two variations are similar enough that it’s best for you to learn them together. The differences, where they exist, are highlighted in boxed text in Chapter 5.

*** Completing Part 1 is your “Circling Boot Camp”, and should take you about 90 minutes to read or 2 ½ hours to listen to on audio. ***

Part II (Authentic Relating) expands on the first part with additional distinctions and practices from Authentic Relating and related movements (so-called “we-space”). This part includes teachings from some of the leading figures in the AR movement and a few others who have built related platforms.

Part III (Applied We-Space) goes into more detail on the major applications of Authentic Relating. If you have a particular interest in business, intentional community, dating & sexuality, therapy and addiction recovery, spirituality or social justice, this is for you.

In the Appendixes, you will learn more about the fascinating history of the movement, get help finding a school or a circle, and more.

Good luck with your practice!
