Well, it’s been a whole year since I released Relational Power v1.21, which is the first “professional” edition of the book (although still incomplete). “Professional” means there was some serious editing of the first version, which had some flaws. I am writing an update here as the project is not dead. Far from it.
2023 was both the worst year of my life (the first half) and the best year of my life (the last half). In the first half, I had a small embolic stroke that made me wonder, at first, whether my creative life was over, and I found myself in some very challenging situations which I will pass on here.
In the second half, however: a miracle occurred: I moved to Ajijic Mexico (in retrospect, a move of desperation) and yet somehow, got extremely lucky in the community where I landed and started leading on-the-ground there with great success. Part of that story is told in Authentic Relating in Intentional Community: A case study in Ajijic, Mexico.
I capitalized on this success by launching my first professional AR program in the form of the Practical Relational Leadership Course, and quite quickly sold-out three sections (15-18 people). This is not just the most money I have ever made from A/R in my life (over $1500); it is the only money I have ever made from A/R. I am still in a state of shock.
Then in December I moved to a residential hotel nearby and founded a new, AR-focused Intentional Community where I moved in and setup a “permanent” household, after wandering the globe looking for a home for the last 10 years. That story told in The new commune in Mexico.
Currently (February 2024) the new commune is going well, but we are still quite small, which is fine. I am running monthly PRL’s but not 3 cohorts each time. It’s a time of consolidation.
To get to the point, however:
The core message of Relational Power remains the same: The world needs leaders. Particularly A/R leaders. I want the A/R message to get out more (it’s still a small-ish cult, although growing rapidly) and I want Relational Power to carry that message to more readers and potential leaders .
